Our organization Board of Directors is comprised of prominent individuals from the public and private sectors with a passionate commitment on poor people in their community. The organization was first formed in 1995 as a pilot study of Widows and Orphans of the Declared Fallen Heroes in Southern Africa after outstanding remarkable bravery for freedom, social justice and peace. One of the goals was to help women who could not cope with the psychological impact of losing a breadwinner,and writing of historical books, producing videos and filming aimed to enhance the objectives of the association.

The vision of SAAWEDO focuses on the cross cultural exchange between African and African American communities not excluding all other races. Provide educational networking programs for income generating projects. Referral information to members and non members on humanitarian grounds. Educating members on programs that will help fight against poverty and empower its members job opportunities through income generating projects and maintaining commitment to success through projects, professional development workshops, environmental responsibilities workshops,and job creation and women's social justice.

Our organization has offices in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique and DRC.
