Executive Summary Mr. Obert T. Nangara (MIBA)
Honoured to present this three (3) year report with a mixture of joy and sadness. The BBSDP scheme’s tenure, will officially becoming to an end sometime in this 2009. Its contributions to the SMMEs will be sorely missed. The slogan of our organization is “accelerating competitiveness in entrepreneurs”. The organisation affirmed itself as the leader in productivity in terms of increasing enterprise competitiveness and productivity so fundamental to achieving the country’s targeted economic growth. We are proud to say that previous Theodore & Associates cc, provided the leadership for a strategically focused organisation effectively delivering on the DTI’s objectives of the BBSDP scheme. Theodore & Associates cc maintained its long tradition of outstanding corporate governance. This could only be achieved because of the high level of professionalism and diligence by the Management and the staff. As the company grew, it later was incorporated to Takani Investments Holdings (Pty) Ltd. The process of the incorporation did not make any of our employees job seekers again, but rather opened more opportunities for growth to all individuals involved in the company.
One of the achievements attained in 2009 is the membership to the Institute if Business Administrators -IBA of Southern Africa. IBA’s registered business advisers are independently accredited professionals; who adhere to the IBA Code of Conduct; who have relevant business experience and training; and who have met the professional criteria as defined by the IBA. We are currently Level 3 members and would like to attain the highest Level 4 by the end of 2010.
This report reflects the organisation’s achievements in productivity knowledge and awareness, skills development and accelerated productivity, second economy productivity interventions, industry sector collaborations and strategies and turnaround solutions for companies. Over the year Takani Investments Holdings (Pty) Ltd took over from Theodore & Associates CC, it occupied a position of thought leadership in relation to contribution to economic growth of enterprises through competitiveness. We formed strategic alliances with some Provincial governments, SARS, ABSA Bank, its division of Small Business, accounting firms and other SMME directorates in Eastern Cape, Limpopo and North West provinces to reach SMME’s and service providers in these provinces. In collaboration with our key partners, our strategic objectives have been translated into actual achievements. This report bears witness to the organisation’s ongoing dedication and commitment towards promoting and developing the competitiveness of the SMMEs from all sectors of the South African society.
Over the past three (3) years, Theodore & Associates CC, now Takani Investments Holdings (Pty) Ltd has assisted 259 SMMEs to access the BBSDP grant with a total value of assistance worth over R14, 2million. In conclusion, Takani Investments Holdings (Pty) Ltd’s management is confident that we will continue to extend the organisation’s reach in accordance with our objectives and the mandate of key stakeholders from government and business sectors. To TEO, Service Providers and all the Staff and all other stake holders not mentioned, I would like to encourage you to support us in “accelerating competitiveness in entrepreneurs”
Congratulations to Takani Holdings team who have worked hard to live up to our slogan: “accelerating competitiveness in entrepreneurs”. May we continue to inspire our fellow South Africans on the road to increased productivity and competitiveness.
“Things are always different – the art is figuring out which differences matter.” Laszlo Birinyi
